Frequently Asked Questions
A conservation easement is a legal restriction where a land owner permanently gives up some of their rights to their land, ensuring that the land will remain in its natural state forever. It is recorded in official County real estate records and is enforceable by a third-party conservation entity that holds the easement.
With this conservation easement, you can be completely assured that your memorial tree at Remembrance Forest will never be built upon, harvested for timber, farmed, mined, or used for livestock grazing, among other restrictions. As part of official real estate records, the conservation easement stays with the land even if the property is sold to another owner. We provide you the highest assurance of legal protection so you can feel comfortable with your purchase.
To ensure the young forest remains a true sanctuary for wildlife and a legally protected habitat, we do not allow public foot traffic. This prevents soil compaction, protects sensitive pollinator species, and maintains the privacy and ecological integrity of the land. Think of it as a 'restricted-access nature preserve' where your loved one’s legacy is the primary resident. We don’t publicly list the exact location of Remembrance Forest in order to protect the site, the private landowner, and the sensitive natural habitat we’re restoring.
We are members, business partners, or supporters of the following great organizations:

🦋Remembrance Forest is the only memorial and celebration tree planting company focused on restoring, legally protecting, and managing habitat for monarchs, bees, and other pollinator species that need our help.
We believe a memorial should represent a "living legacy" and we also take a holistic perspective to restoring this memorial forest. Because of this pollinator focus, your loved one’s tribute will become a source of life for others. A single native tree can support thousands of living creatures throughout its long life. Choosing a pollinator-friendly forest means your tribute isn't just a marker in the ground; it's a functioning part of a vibrant, humming ecosystem that will be protected for generations. 🦋

We’ve carefully chosen to establish Remembrance Forest in the peaceful landscape of eastern Kansas. The planting location is within a protected parcel of land with a long stretch of an important local stream and is immediately next to a sizeable prairie restoration area, a restored streamside forest, and a marsh buzzing with life.
While we know many would love a memorial forest in their own immediate area, we selected this specific spot for its central position within the country, high restoration potential, and its critical location for important pollinators including the monarch butterfly and the eastern regal fritillary butterfly, both of which are proposed to be endangered species. By focusing our restoration efforts here, we can ensure the most significant ecological impact and long-term protection for the trees planted in memory of loved ones.
